Whining Dog at Bear Branch

November 19, 2001- Monday- Day24
8:00am-About 4 miles out of Fargo and the information I received turns out to be correct, lots of trees. I guessing it is 26 miles to Homerville (can't get over that name) and that is a lot of trees to pass. Last night I didn't have such a bad time as I'm used to. Can't remember the last time I slept inside. Man, I never seen such a dense fog as I woke up to. It was knife cutting thick, I would have drowned out on the fairway. I'm carrying a lot of weight, but its not to bad, so far. I hope I run across a piece of plastic to make a shelter tonight or I'm gonna be wet in the morning. I'll probably freeze to death and it won't matter anyway. Skil's has worms, and I can't do nothing about it now. Not a whole bunch of traffic on this road. Lots of logging trunks, that must be the main livelyhood around these parts.
12:40pm- Ten miles out of Fargo and it is getting hot now. We just stopped for lunch, sounds funny saying that, in a place called Bear Branch (go Figure) not one house to be seen except some kind of communications building. I have some fried ribs that Mark gave me, and I have never heard or thought about frying ribs. We are sitting in the trees on the trail to Camp Branch. Whatever! We are about out of water and only 1/3 of the way to Homerville. Skillet is a real problem today, just keeps whining and whining.
5:45pm- We found a little trail to spend the night on, about 15 miles out of Fargo. There is a sign that says this is the property of a Hunting Club. We have no water and I don't want to push the baby to the twenty mile limit until he feels better. I built a little fire to try and keep the bugs down, don't know yet if it will work. What can I expect though I am in the Okeefenokee Swamp. What could go wrong?
