10:00am- About 6 miles out of Whitmore, with 12 to go to reach Newberry. We're going to have to reach it today, so the breaks won't be so often. We are right now crossing the Sumter National Forest, so a stopping place would be hard to find. No water and no food, so we got to keep on keeping on.
5:15pm- I am just outside of Newberry and won't make it into town today. We are up on the side of a mountain, with a store down below. I spent $10.00 on supper for me and Skil's, those convenience stores aren't cheap. Should have went on into town, but slap wore out crossing that National forrest. All along the way I was noticing half-pint Gordon"s vodka bottles along the hwy, and lo-and-behold I found 2 that wasn't open yet. Two out of a hundred empties ain't to shabby. I am going to sit right here and kill the pain some, I'll suffer tomorrow. Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus! Why would anyone throw 2 perfectly good bottles of vodka out the window?
I'll probably hang out here for a few days due to feet problems, I am in some serious pain. I bought some Dr.Scholls back in Naples and I'm going to try walking without them. See if that helps. Maybe they are working and need a helping hand around here. I would like to settle down for a bit, at least until I am more prepared to travel. Like money and a decent backpack for extended travel.
