North Myrtle Beach

December 19, 2001- Wednesday- Day 54
9:00am- Man, this town wasn't made for pedestrians, there are no side-walks or even bike-paths. Wouldn't be a problem, but I have my trailer and the wheels don't do so well in the sand. I'll have to take it in for a Lube job after this. After we got across that crazy bridge I just went into the first woods and set up camp. A really thick patch of Cedar trees, that I had to clear some room for the tent. I have a view of the strip across the road and the club directly across is named "Broadway" This area is too touristy, we are gonna move on down towards N. Myrtle Bch.
11:00am- We are packed up and headed towards N.M.B. A couple pulled up and handed me $5.00. I am thinking must be inland folk, just to pull over and hand me money like that. Then another mile up the road, while taking a break in the woods, a lady came in the woods looking for us. What! She said she was looking for me and that she had some dog-food for my little boy. I walked back to her trunk and she took out a butcher knife and cut me a big ole' hunk off her Xmas ham. What a world! I was hiding out of sight and thought no one could see me. These people must have some blood-hound in their blood-line.
3:30pm- We are in N.M.B. behind the AP food store, and they just brought out a load for the dumpster. I saw something fall on the ground and when it was clear I strolled on over. Oh Lord, a $40.00 tenderloin that was suppose to go into the dumpster. What a day its been. Now to go find a place where I can build a little fire and cook is thing.
5:15pm- We are setting up camp at a abandoned Goony-Golf that has long been out-of-business. The smell of my cooking attracted a pack of wild dogs, but a big stick convinced them they weren't welcome. They look healthy enough, that they don't need our food. This is a pretty good spot, but its too much out in the open. We're kind of on a hill and I can see the ocean about a mile away.
