10:00am- We are moving right along this morning and I have found 2 Food Lion's and one Bi-Lo, but they had crushers instead of dumpsters. Skil's has back-up food anyway, but I want to stay ahead of the game. I am now crossing the Intercoastal again, but still on US 17, headed north. I am about 5 miles to N.C. state line and Myrtle Bch. is fading in the distance. It was a nice town, but it just didn't fit my situation at all. So, we'll look elsewhere. Onward! I had a car pull up and the window came down, never saw the person, an arm reached out the window (black arm) with $20.00 bill in it. I took it , the window went up and the car was gone. Am I on LSD, this can't be happening. We stopped at a store and they have a map on the wall, Cape Fear is up the road on Bald Head Island. I see that I can take 179 along the coast and 20 miles up the road we can get back on US 17. That's my pick, lets be tourist for a while.
1:00pm- We are just about to Little River and looking for a camp site. I am judging my trip through Myrtle Bch. and it looks dim. I stayed in Conway Sun. and Mon. So Tues. Wed. and Thursday were spent pulling my wagon through the sand. That makes about 25 miles in 5 days, that ain't good, but what's the hurry? I passed a sign that said Welcome Center at the state line, maybe they have a grill and I can cook the rest of my tenderloin. That is the only good part of this cold weather, you don't need a refridgerator. If I can find another place like that Food Lion in Conway, I might hang around here until Xmas. While at the store a man handed me $5.00 and said Merry Xmas! Jeez!
