Uphill Battle

November 21, 2001- Wednesday- Day 26
8:10am- We are 2 miles outside of Broxton and very cold this morning. I would guess the lower end of the 30's last night. Wasn't cold enough to kill me, but very uncomfortable. Have know idea how far the next town is, but I am keeping my eyes open for some kind of shelter for tonight. Or at least a place to build a fire.
11:20am- Sign says 22 miles back to Douglas, as for the road ahead its looking real bleak. I have been finding a lot of Georgia Cannonball watermelons today, but none are ripe yet. I would say its been in the 50's all morning, but its starting to warm up some. I have no idea what lies ahead of us, but we are still trucking along. Probably made 8 miles today and Skil's is doing fine in this mild weather. Maybe one of these locals will stop by and show some of that Georgia Love that we experienced when we entered this state.
3:10pm- We are 26 miles out of Douglas still don't see anything to give us a sign of population. we are starting to feel the toll of all these hills, that just go up. None of them seem to go down hill, I have to think about stopping at 5:00pm, we just aren't able to continue. Maybe, we will find another abandoned house, I seen many along this road.
