The Great Smokies in All Their Glory

March 24, 2002- Sunday- Day 149
10:00am- A beautiful day at 58 degrees and I feel like a ton of weight has been lifted off my shoulders. We are in Brevard NC. and I found a laundry- mat and I can't wait to put on some clean clothes. I have been through some pretty country the past few months and I think the best is yet to come. We are headed into "The Smoky Mountains" and I am expecting some really fine scenery. I have come up with a new plan, but its only a detour for a few days. Good thing about making plans, without having them notarized, is the fact you can always change them. Now, I can't be sued for changing directions, I am losing it! We are going to get off of US64 in Murphy and go down to Blue Ridge Ga. and see if I can find Hanky. After I see him or not I'll head back up to US64 and head on out to Jamala Beach Ca. I don't know why US64 isn't as famous as its counterpart, US66. Sixty-Six just goes from L.A. to Chicago and 64 goes from L.A. to Kitty Hawk NC. Thats twice as far as 66 and a more scenic trip. Hollywood, I guess!
2:00pm- Me and Skil's are sitting in Rosman now , thanks to a preacher that picked us up. He gave me $3.00 too. I have got to the point that I don't turn down money, no matter how much I have in my wallet. Which is a pretty good sum at the moment. If people offer, I won't hurt their feelings and say no. Shame on me! We are now on a stretch of road I have never traveled, so I guess that makes me a real pioneer now. Its the only part I have never been on. I drove my RV from Santa Barbara Ca. to Fayetteville Temm. down 64 and turned south to Huntsville Alabama. So, I suppose I am in for a treat. Now, I have to get us out of this town and find a campsite for the night. I am all tuckered out from doing my laundry, I had to rassle my jeans down and beat them with a stick.Good Lord! what a life!
