Definately Not Wise Men

January 19, 2002-Saturday- Day 85
2:00pm- We spent our first night on the banks of the Pacolet River and it was nice not drowning when the rain started at mid-night. Just about dark last night, I noticed some people back in the woods and headed my way. They said that "they lived up yonders away" They mentioned that I should be careful camping here, because I am a city boy. I wanted to tell them the dangers of the city compared to the laid back ways of ya'll tobacco chewing country bumpkins, but I have learned to hold my tongue. I just told them, so far, no problems, and that i would be leaving Monday. After they left and a hour later a truck pulled up under the bridge. I'm thinking, well here goes! But, it was the same people and they came out of the East bearing gifts. Brought me a really nice rain gear set and food for me and the"King" So I am figuring that the only problems I'll have is carrying all the stuff I accumulate. What a great bunch of people I have been running into on this adventure. Now, me and my little dog are sitting on the banks of the river, belly's full, and watching the rapids. I wonder if there are any trout in this crik. ( hope I pronounced that right) Danny said to call and, he was going to see if his brother-in-law could find something for me until Danny got something going. Good ole' Danny sure doesn't want a plasterer like me to slip out of his grasp. If I wasn't so modest I would say they threw away the mold on my ability at my trade.
